The JoEllen Luster Ovarian Cancer Awareness & Research Foundation a.k.a JOCARE was started in memory of an amazing fighter, our mom, JoEllen Luster. JoEllen was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in November of 2014. She fought every day from that day forward. She went through surgery, multiple chemotherapy treatments, scans, doctors appointments, radiation, and hospital stays and never complained. She never took life for granted and she was always putting her family and friends first. She would make you feel like the most special person in the room even if you barely knew her. She celebrated every chance she got and added a little bit of sparkle to everyone’s day despite the circumstances surrounding her. On August 27, 2017 her fight came to a heartbreaking end. I think I speak for most people who knew her, it was a privilege to have her in our lives. She was the strongest, goofiest, and most amazing mom, friend, daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and person that you could ever know. All that she asked was that we make it known the signs of ovarian cancer in the hopes that even one person would not have to go through what she fought so hard through. Through this foundation we hope fulfill that wish for her and also raise funds for research towards ovarian cancer. Through this foundation we hope to add a little more sparkle to this world, just like our Mom did every single day. Sparkle on momma lust! <3
